Retro Wednesday- Plaid

Beginning with the tartans of Scotland, evolving to the punk rock scene of the 1980's, and continuing through to today plaid has been through it's fair share of re-inventing itself. With its many looks plaid is a print that will never be out of style. We are looking at a future full of further plaid evolution. So lets take a look back at a few of the looks plaid has given us from the past.

Women's Fall/Winter 2012 Collection

The theme of the women's collection is 'Town & Country.' To me this is the perfect balance in life. To live in town throughout the work week and take off to the country on the week end. You would have the best of both worlds. The fast paced city with all the social events and outings and the stillness and beauty of the outdoors.

The women's collection is the perfect counter part to the men's collection. Beautiful structured coats, deep colors, and lots of leather. The tone is kept in Tommy's signature navy blues and deep red hues. A few pieces with a bit of flow create a feminine romantic touch to the collection in an otherwise tailored layout.

Men's Fall/ Winter 2012 Collection

I'd like to start off the season with the new season from Tommy Hilfiger.

Hilfiger made a daring move with this collection. With all the leather and zippers it almost feels a bit rock and roll. Not quite what we are use to seeing from Tommy Hilfiger. But then we see a stripped turtleneck, a classic Tommy trademark, walk its way down the runway and we realize the Tommy brand is still there. I know this collection is designed for men but I think I want every piece. This collection is a perfect blend of rough military style coats paired with the Americana basics. I feel this was a bold move, a strong statement, and successful show.

The Blazer

I feel there are so many ways to use women's apparel design to make a women look taller, thinner, more balanced and even make the girls look bigger. But what sort of optical illusions do men have to make them look thinner, stronger and taller? Not many. There is one though, the blazer. With a stronger shoulder line a man can look broader and appear stronger.  Beer bellies can be hidden behind a closed blazer that cuts in at the waist. It is a must have in any men's wardrobe and the perfect tool in disguising your not so good parts. Ladies this is not something you should pass up either. A blazer is the perfect way to create an hourglass figure. So in my opinion a blazer is a must have for all.

The Pleated School Girl Skirt

With school on its way again what other article of clothing is more appropriate to rediscover than the school girl skirt.
